In Humility
In humility I fall
Mindful of the things I've done
Not knowing where to begin
I know that I have let you down
Cleanse my spirit, mighty God
Take away the love of sin
Let my wisdom be shamed
By the joy of a fool
And let me know what it means
To cast aside all of my strength
To be naked in Your sight
To be here on my knees
What is this love I've found
Bids me to come
Empty handed to fall
Here at Your feet
I would gladly lay down
All the things You demand
Of my life, my all
If I tried to buy Your love
All my wealth would be scorned
All I have would be dust
So give me wisdom to see
The offering You require
The payment You deserve
What is this love I've found
Bids me to come
Empty handed to fall
Here at Your feet
I would gladly lay down
All the things You demand
Of my life, my all

A few people have asked me about the second verse where it says
"Let my wisdom be shamed
By the joy of a fool"
It's basically a sideways glance at King David dancing down the street in just his tunic. It's so easy to come to God all wrapped up in what we think is the right way to do things, and thinking that we know who God is.
Sometimes it takes something that grates on us, something foolish to make us realise that our own wisdom and understanding can be a barrier to our worship, especially if it's something we're using to hide behind. It's time to cast that off and meet God in person - naked in His sight.
